MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - Rice Fruit Company

Company: Rice Fruit Company, a high volume fresh apple packing facility in Gardners, Pennsylvania seeks a maintenance supervisor.

Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of maintenance team in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment in packing plant facility.  

Requirements

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Analyzes and resolves production, operations, or facility issues often under time sensitive conditions issues.
  • Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.  Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Oversees workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Works with President and Vice President of Operations to design schedules and work requirements for long, complex projects.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Specs and purchases parts, tools, and equipment for repairs, upgrades, and modifications to equipment.  Requisitions and keeps supply of necessary spare parts.
  • Oversees maintenance and repairs of forklift fleet.
  • Maintain and enforce preventative maintenance plan.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Interprets and communicates company policies to workers and enforces safety and food safety regulations at all times.
  • Actively participates on the Worker Safety Committee and the Food Safety Committee.



Supervisory Responsibilities
: Supervises a maintenance team of 5 – 7 individuals with varying degrees of technical training.

Education and/or Experience

Technical degree or certification, management experience, supervisory experience, experience in industrial/production environment                                               
Communication Skills
Fluent English speaker 
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  Must provide succinct and intelligent summaries of maintenance issues to senior management                            
Math & Science Skills
Algebra, Geometry, general accounting skills         
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering concepts   
                                       
Reasoning Ability                                                      

High.  Must rapidly deduce root cause of operational problems and determine appropriate solutions.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office
CAD software
Project management software
